The Carroll Chargers will face off against the Woodlan Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Carroll's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Taylor Danley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
In other pitching news, Emilia Garcia looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Tessa Patterson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kaelyn Kinsey, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Woodlan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Southern Wells with a sharp 13-1 win on Thursday.
Woodlan pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Carroll, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4-1.
Carroll took their win against Woodlan in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-4 score. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
