The Tri County Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 24 points or more this season. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 63-25 stomp they got on the road against Deshler. 63 seems to be a good number for Tri County as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Tri County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Drew Siems out in front who scored 11 points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Dustin Kapke, who scored 12 points.
Despite the loss, Deshler saw an underclassman step up: Carson Sieber scored six points along with six rebounds. Braxton Peterson was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Deshler struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Tri County's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Deshler, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Tri County will finish 2023 at home by hosting Diller-Odell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Diller-Odell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Tri County is ranked 28th). Deshler won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Meridian at 4:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Meridian is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
