Meanwhile, for the first time since back in November of 2023, Canyon del Oro was forced to settle for a draw on Thursday. Neither they nor American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw. The game got a bit rough at times, as the refs handed out a total of four yellow cards before it was all over: Canyon del Oro's Lyric Brett and Seidra Hadi and American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North's Audrey King and Allie Roseberry were all carded.
Canyon del Oro used a slightly different lineup for their bout with American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Ezra Valdez (100), Ava Hehli (100), and McKenna Athey (100). The trio had averaged 65.5, 67.67, and 59.69 minutes respectively before Thursday's game. Athey made the most of the opportunity, putting up an assist. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Arizona College Prep pushed their record up to 18-1-1 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those three contests. Canyon del Oro's draw makes their record 9-5-2 this season.
