After flying high against the Huntsville Christian Academy Panthers back in December of 2023, the Grace Classical Christian Academy Highlanders came back down to earth. Grace Classical Christian Academy was beaten by Mt. Pleasant Christian 63-34 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Grace Classical Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 384th, while Mt. Pleasant Christian is ranked 162nd).
Several Highlanders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maddox Werkmeister, who scored 11 points along with two blocks. Another player making a difference was Zachary Hollowell, who scored 13 points.
Grace Classical Christian Academy dropped their record down to 2-5 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Mt. Pleasant Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace Classical Christian Academy will take on Trinity Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mt. Pleasant Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Cornerstone Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
