Ocala Christian is 0-10 against Countryside Christian since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Ocala Christian Crusaders will head out on the road to challenge the Countryside Christian Minutemen at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Ocala Christian suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 51-27 defeat at the hands of Belleview. Ocala Christian has not had much luck with Belleview recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The losing side was boosted by Charlotte Culver, who scored 22 points along with two steals. That was a full 81.5% of Ocala Christian's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Countryside Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were outmatched by Dixie County at home and fell 50-20. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Countryside Christian has scored all season.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Vanessa Colon and
Madelyn Watson, who each put up six points.
Ocala Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Countryside Christian, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Ocala Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 18.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Countryside Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 30.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Ocala Christian came up short against Countryside Christian when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 45-37. Can Ocala Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
