The West Ranch Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Vasquez Mustangs at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While West Ranch's win against Hart wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Hawks 6-4. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 20, 2023, but that streak is no more.
The team relied heavily on TORREY PRICE, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Vasquez ultimately got the result they hoped for back in April. They had just enough and edged out Faith Baptist 5-4. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Mariah Pulido made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over eight innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Pulido was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kriztina Finley was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Faith Nasrallah, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
West Ranch's record is now 10-14. As for Vasquez, their record now sits at 13-11.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. West Ranch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. However, it's not like Vasquez struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
West Ranch took their victory against Vasquez when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
