The Cascade Champions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They came out on top against Grundy County by a score of 59-49. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cascade.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cascade to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaydence Miller, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Miller scored 15 or more points. Sophie Ray was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Grundy County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Carlee Smartt. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Kallie Parson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Cascade's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12. As for Grundy County, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cascade will take on Forrest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forrest is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Grundy County, they will head out on the road to face off against Van Buren County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Van Buren County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Grundy County likes a good challenge.
