Basketball Recap: Pickens Sets Scoring Season-High Against Easley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pickens). They secured a 50-44 W over the Easley Green Wave on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Flame.

Pickens' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gabi Sanchez led the charge by going 6 for 8 on her way to 16 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Braelynn Hardin, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

Pickens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Easley lost, don't look at Abbi Vite. Despite the final result, she posted nine points along with seven steals and six boards. That's the most points Vite has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Kelley, who put up eight points and five steals.

Pickens now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Easley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Pickens didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-44 victory against Crescent on the 28th. As for Easley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 65-42 win against Liberty on the 28th.
