The Wayne County Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 24 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Culleoka on Monday as Wayne County made off with a 65-41 victory. Given Wayne County's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Culleoka is ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wayne County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cayman Camfield led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Camfield has scored at least 25% of Wayne County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Shamer, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Wayne County and bumps their season record up to 9-2. As for Culleoka, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
Wayne County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Rogers at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Culleoka will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Collinwood at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
