Hickman County hasn't had much luck against Carlisle County recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Falcons will take on the Comets at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Hickman County turned things around against Edmonson County on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Wildcats. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Falcons' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Trey Boaz was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hickman County is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-9 otherwise. Boaz was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Hickman County got a massive performance out of Nyiahez Irons, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Irons a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brec Byassee, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.
Hickman County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edmonson County only posted an OBP of .318.
Meanwhile, Carlisle County came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 9-3 win. Considering the Comets have won four games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Karter Hutchinson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Hutchinson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other pitching news, Jonah Bruer looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk).
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Koltyn Perez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Brennan O'Neill, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Carlisle County pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hickman County, their record is now 4-9.
Hickman County suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Carlisle County when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
