The South Johnston Trojans suffered their biggest  defeat since November 21, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a  tough 72-49 walloping at the hands of Hunt. South Johnston has not had much luck with Hunt recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
 Despite the loss, South Johnston still got an impressive performance from   Emma Grey Thornton, who  scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points  Thornton has scored all season.  Brooke Winborne was another key contributor,  scoring 11 points.
  Ti'asia Taylor continued  her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hunt,  scoring 28 points along with four  steals. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to  steals, as she's  now  grabbed two or more in the last five games she's  played. Another player making a difference was  Mahalia Thoms, who  scored 17 points along with three  steals and three  blocks.
 South Johnston's loss was  their 12th straight on the road, which  bumped their record down to 5-8. As for Hunt, the  win was  the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-8.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Johnston will take on East Wake at 6:15  p.m.  on Friday. East Wake has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 24. As for Hunt, they the luxury  of staying home another  game and will welcome West Johnston at 6:00  p.m.  on January 19th. West Johnston will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
