Baseball Recap: Umatilla Gets the Win

Umatilla extended their postseason success on Thursday against Nature Coast Tech. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Sharks. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Sharks on Tuesday, they had to take a 12-2 defeat.

Umatilla's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nick Sande, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Sande has launched this season. Another was Dominick Mathe, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Umatilla hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nature Coast Tech struck out 11 times.

Umatilla's record now sits at 16-13. As for Nature Coast Tech, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-10 record this season.

Umatilla will head out on the road to square off against South Sumter at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. Nature Coast Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
