AAAAA Region 4A recap Sept. 26, 2012
Drew was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to first in AAAAA Region 4A. Drew vanquished McIntosh 28-3 earlier in the week.
Mundy's Mill moved up to 239 from 270 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers were able to make the jump by beating the Tigers 38-13.
Forest Park's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Irvin Balfour threw for 48 yards and Brandon Williams had 25 yards receiving. On the ground DeJuan Simms chipped in 10 yards. Simms helped Forest Park's passing attack out by catching four balls for 22 yards.
Derrion Dawson made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Panthers lost to Creekside. The junior recorded one fumble and grabbed two sacks.
Forest Park's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Balfour has thrown for 169 yards this season, while Williams has six catches for 99 yards. Simms leads the league in rushing with 218 yards.
Mundy's Mill made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,169 from 7,180. The advance stemmed from a 38-13 victory over the Tigers last week.
