Baseball Recap: Hillside's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Hillside had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 14-11 win over the Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Spartans on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Hornets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Hillside let Neil Howard and Julian Hall run wild. Howard got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs, while Hall went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three stolen bases gave Howard a new career-high. Zane Goodwin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hillside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern School of Energy and Sustainability only managed four.

Hillside's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-7. As for Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.

Coming up, Southern School of Energy and Sustainability will take on Oxford Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Griffins have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. Hillside will be paying especially close attention to Southern School of Energy and Sustainability's game: after Southern School of Energy and Sustainability faces off against Oxford Prep, they'll take on Hillside again at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
