Moapa Valley had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 12-11 to make it four. They came up short against the Pahrump Valley Trojans, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 15-0 loss two weeks ago.
Moapa Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shelby Cornwall, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
As for Pahrump Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.
On Pahrump Valley's side, Jaycie Hayes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Hayes has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).
In other batting news, Evalenne Armendariz was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Sadie Freeman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Moapa Valley has already played their next game, an 8-5 victory against Boulder City on the 8th. As for Pahrump Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 9-0 win against Virgin Valley on the 8th.
