The Brookville Raiders will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Karns City Gremlins at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Brookville can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Ridgway/Johnsonburg 35-6 on the road. With Brookville ahead 20-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Brookville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hayden Freeman out in front who picked up 208 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Freeman was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 65 yards. Another player making a difference was Charlie Krug, who threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt.
Karns City fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They strolled past Mount Union with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 34-19.
Karns City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luke Cramer, who rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Scherer, who rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown.
Brookville's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Moniteau and 2-8 Ridgway/Johnsonburg (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.9% over those games). As for Karns City, their win bumped their record up to 5-5.
Everything came up roses for Brookville against Karns City in their previous meeting back in October as the squad secured a 44-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brookville since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
