The Perquimans Pirates's game on Friday was all tied up 26-26 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to Tarboro 58-53. Perquimans has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Perquimans' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nyquan Riddick, who scored ten points along with four steals. Riddick hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Shavoris Lewis Jr., who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Perquimans has not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. As for Tarboro, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.
Perquimans will head out on the road to challenge Bertie at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Perquimans is coming into the game with five straight defeats on the road, meaning Bertie will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Tarboro, they will be playing at home against Gates County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
