If the Whitmer Panthers were feeling good off their 56-18 takedown of the Southview Cougars last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Whitmer fell just short of Walsh Jesuit by a score of 43-40. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Whitmer came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Walsh Jesuit is ranked 284th).
Jada Shoup and Mackenzie Royal-davis certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Shoup scored 16 points along with eight rebounds, while Royal-davis scored eight points along with ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shoup has scored all season.
Whitmer's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Walsh Jesuit, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitmer will take on Perrysburg at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Walsh Jesuit, they will be playing at home against Archbishop Hoban at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
