South Guilford HomeSchool has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the South Wake Sabres at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully South Guilford HomeSchool focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
On Friday, South Guilford HomeSchool beat the Patriots 44-34. Given South Guilford HomeSchool's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Patriots are ranked 372nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Guilford HomeSchool's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kailey Bullins, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Taliya Davis, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and four blocks.
Chatham HomeSchool typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday South Wake proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 47-39 victory over the Thunder. The win was just what South Wake needed coming off of a 53-30 loss in their prior contest.
South Wake got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kennady Milligan out in front who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Milligan has scored all season. Sydnee Woolard was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
South Guilford HomeSchool has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. As for South Wake, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: South Guilford HomeSchool have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 39.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like South Wake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
South Guilford HomeSchool was dealt a bruising 73-34 loss at the hands of the Sabres in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can South Guilford HomeSchool avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
