The Juarez-Lincoln Huskies suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Nixon 94-18. While losing is never fun, Juarez-Lincoln can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1522nd, while Nixon is ranked 309th).
Jose Escobar was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with seven rebounds and six steals for Nixon. The team also got some help courtesy of Julius Garcia, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Juarez-Lincoln's loss was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-24. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.1 points per game. As for Nixon, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Juarez-Lincoln will take on Mission Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mission Veterans Memorial is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Nixon, they will be playing at home against Martin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Martin is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
