Avon Park is 0-4 against Clewiston since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Avon Park Red Devils will stay at home for another week and welcome the Clewiston Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th.
Last Friday, Avon Park was the victim of a rough 32-10 loss at the hands of LaBelle. Avon Park was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-0.
Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Clewiston, as they earned their first road win of the season. They enjoyed a cozy 27-13 victory over Inlet Grove on Thursday.
Clewiston found their leader in underclassman Amos Bradford, who rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Jermarian Pope got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Clewiston's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. Inlet Grove's QB won't forget Prince "kd" james anytime soon given "kd" james sacked him eight times.
Avon Park's loss was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-2 Hardee and 6-2 Mulberry (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 70.9% over those games). As for Clewiston, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
Avon Park took a serious blow against Clewiston when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 48-14. Will Avon Park have more luck at home instead of on the road?
