Softball Recap: Pinnacle Wins Going Away Against Horizon

Pinnacle won the last time they faced Horizon and things went their way on Monday too. Pinnacle put the hurt on Horizon with a sharp 19-13 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Bri Smith was incredible, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Payton Crank, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Pinnacle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Pinnacle and bumps their season record up to 5-3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Horizon, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pinnacle will challenge Boulder Creek at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Horizon, they will face off against Notre Dame Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Notre Dame Prep's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Horizon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
