The Weston Trojans lost against the Newtown Nighthawks back in November of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Weston had to suffer through a rough 42-7 loss at the hands of Newtown. Weston was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-0.
Jayden Cordova was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 169 yards and four touchdowns on only nine passes. J.j. Haddick also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Weston's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-4. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Newtown, Pomperaug, and Tolland. As for Newtown, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weston will take on New Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Fairfield is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Newtown, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against West Haven at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (West Haven is ranked third, while Newtown is ranked tenth).
