After a string of three wins, The Briggs Bruins''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 49-30 bruising from Westerville South. While losing is never fun, Briggs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while Westerville South is ranked 134th).
Westerville South got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Phillips, Nasir out in front who rushed for 166 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Dominic Birtha, who threw for 215 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes.
Briggs' loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Westerville South, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Briggs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Westerville South is on the road again on Friday and play against Washington at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Washington knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Westerville South likes a good challenge.
