Pershing County is 9-1 against West Wendover since February of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Pershing County sitting on 13 straight victories and West Wendover on six.
Pershing County will bounce into Friday's contest after beating North Tahoe, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 47-24 margin over the Lakers on Friday. Riley Harvey produced another solid performance shooting 56% from the field en route to 23 points and eight steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2025. Another player making a difference was Kyra Cerini, who earned 13 points and three steals.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Wendover). They claimed a resounding 59-17 win over Silver Stage. The Wolverines not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since December 20, 2025 (when they won 48-6).
Pershing County better keep an eye on Anaya Hernandez. She was instrumental in West Wendover's win, almost dropping a double-double with 12 points and nine steals. Hernandez has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 27 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Jimenez, who put up 15 points and five steals.
West Wendover smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.
Pershing County's record is now 21-5. As for West Wendover, their record now sits at 12-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Pershing County has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 30 boards per game. However, it's not like West Wendover struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Pershing County didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against West Wendover in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 45-41 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
