Basketball Recap: Palmyra Takes a Loss

It was a good run, but Palmyra unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to the South Shelby Cardinals. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 63-50 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Callie Mcwilliams was her usual excellent self, going 9 of 18 on her way to 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals for South Shelby. The match was Mcwilliams' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Belle Roush, who posted 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Palmyra's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for South Shelby, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmyra and Quincy Notre Dame will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Quincy Notre Dame will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Palmyra surely won't give up without a fight. As for South Shelby, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the South Shelby Cardinals take on the Canton Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Shelby is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.6 points per game this season.
