Withrow is 0-3 against Taft since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Withrow Tigers will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Taft Senators at 4:15 p.m. Taft took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Withrow, who comes in off a win.
Withrow can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 66-29 win over Ponitz Career Tech. That 66-29 margin sets a new team best for Withrow this season.
Meanwhile, Taft pushed their score all the way to 73 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Peninsula Catholic by a score of 76-73. While losing is never fun, Taft can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 294th in Ohio, while Peninsula Catholic is ranked 68th in Virginia).
Withrow's victory bumped their record up to 1-5-1. As for Taft, they have fallen quite a ways from their 18-3 record last season and are now at 3-5.
Withrow came up short against Taft in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, falling 52-42. Can Withrow avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
