La Salle Academy is a perfect 6-0 against Prout since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Rams will host the Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
La Salle Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Dighton-Rehoboth Regional, who was ranked fourth in their home state at the time (La Salle Academy was ranked second). The Rams had just enough and edged out the Falcons 2-1 on Saturday. The win was familiar territory for the Rams, who have now won six games in a row.
Hailey Vigneau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits.
On the hitting side, Samantha Sell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Prout walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Townies 6-4. The game was the first time the Crusaders have beaten the Townies on their field since May 19, 2024.
Megan Gardiner made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April.
In other batting news, Prout let Mia Boyajian and Sara Slitt run wild. Boyajian went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Slitt went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Boyajian has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Callie Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Prout was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Providence only posted a batting average of .250.
La Salle Academy's victory bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Prout, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
Prout's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: La Salle Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. It's a different story for Prout, though, as they've only averaged .357. Will they be able to contain La Salle Academy's hitters?
La Salle Academy got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April against Prout by a conclusive 13-3 score. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crusaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
