The Warren County Screaming Devils waltzed into their matchup Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They escaped with a win against Lake Oconee Academy by the margin of a single free throw, 55-54. The score was all tied up 32-32 at the break, but Warren County was the better team in the second half.
Leading Warren County to victory were Jailee Allen and Courtney Bray. Allen scored 19 points, while Bray scored 24 points along with three steals. The contest was Allen's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimora Bullard, who scored nine points.
Warren County pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Lake Oconee Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warren County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Towns County at 5:00 p.m. on January 6th. Hopefully Towns County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Saturday. Lake Oconee Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Greene County at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th.
