Northeast Academy faced Pungo Christian Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Northeast Academy took the match and then some with a 48-0 win over Pungo Christian Academy last Thursday. Among those leading the charge for Northeast Academy was junior JT Simmons, who rushed for 162 yards and 3 touchdowns. This marked the 6th matchup in which Simmons has rushed for over 100 yards.
Meanwhile, Halifax Academy might be getting used to good results now that the team has six wins in a row. They put a hurting on Lawrence Academy to the tune of 84-0. Halifax Academy were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 6-0. Since neither squad is a stranger to landslide victories this season, you'd better bet it will be hard-fought showdown.
