The Lane Tech Champions lost against the Glenbrook North Spartans back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The game between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Lane Tech falling 56-39. They have not had much luck with Glenbrook North recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Several Champions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Melanie Blanco, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Grace Bush, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Lane Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Glenbrook North, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lane Tech will challenge Amundsen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Amundsen is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. As for Glenbrook North, Glenbrook North and Niles West will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Niles West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 266th, while Glenbrook North is ranked 64th).
