The Colton Wildcats will face off against the Pomeroy Pirates at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Colton came out on top against Tekoa-Rosalia on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Nighthawks with a sharp 13-3 victory. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Nighthawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Tanner Baerlocher made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over 5.2 innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Colton is 3-1 when Baerlocher posts three or more hits, but 4-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Miller, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Xavier Druffel was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Colton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .528 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pomeroy). They were the clear victors by a 25-3 margin over Waitsburg/Prescott on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Pirates with their most commanding win of the season.
Like Colton, Pomeroy also got a great game from a two-way player: Conrad Nelson. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Nelson was even better at the plate, going 4-for-6 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Nolan Newberg was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Corbin Nelson, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Colton now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Pomeroy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Colton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .510. However, it's not like Pomeroy struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Colton might still be hurting after the 12-1 defeat they got from Pomeroy in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
