After both having extra time off, the Delta Rabbits and the Carbon Dinos will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. Delta is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
Delta had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Providence Hall last Thursday. The Rabbits put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 3-0 win.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Delta was: they took every set by at least 15 points. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-10, 25-9.
Carbon hadn't beaten Manti on the road since October 27, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them last Wednesday. The Dinos walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Templars.
Carbon had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-19.
Delta better focus on containing Laycie Gregersen and Brailee Peterson as the pair were huge in Carbon's win. Gregersen had nine digs and one assist, while Peterson had 12 kills and 12 digs. Peterson has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 16 times she's played.
Delta's win bumped their record up to 21-7. As for Carbon, their victory bumped their record up to 6-21.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's matchup: Delta has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Carbon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Delta's way against Carbon in their previous meeting on October 2nd, as Delta made off with a 3-0 win. Will the Rabbits repeat their success, or do the Dinos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
