The Lomega Raiders will take on the Balko Bison at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Saturday, Lomega blew past Vici, posting a 90-31 victory at home. Given Lomega's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Vici is ranked 359th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Balko walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Bison with a sharp 53-29 win on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but Balko sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Balko's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Estrella Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. Martinez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emelie Trentham, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Lomega pushed their record up to 24-2 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 41.6 points. As for Balko, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
