The Salisbury Hornets stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 71-35 win over Lexington. 71 seems to be a good number for Salisbury as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Salisbury's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Makayla Noble, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Noble has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times she's played. Jamyrah Cherry was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
When it comes to explaining why Lexington lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lily Ervin. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points.
Salisbury's victory was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-4. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.56 points. As for Lexington, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
Salisbury on the road again on Monday and play against Northeast Guilford at 5:30 p.m. on January 15th. Northeast Guilford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Salisbury is ranked 117th). As for Lexington, they will head out on the road to challenge Southeast Guilford at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
