The D.C. Everest Evergreens will take on the Stevens Point Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. D.C. Everest is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Tuesday, D.C. Everest earned a 6-2 win over Wausau West.
Aubrey Klatt was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Sydney Spear was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: D.C. Everest lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of nine wins, Stevens Point's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 6-1 to Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Stevens Point saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Callie Diekhus, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
D.C. Everest pushed their record up to 12-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Stevens Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.
Stevens Point's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. D.C. Everest has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Stevens Point, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will D.C. Everest keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
D.C. Everest took their victory against Stevens Point when the teams last played on April 8th by a conclusive 7-1 score. Do the Evergreens have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
