The Carroll Tigers will square off against the Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Carroll: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial has snatched up 12 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
Carroll lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Corpus Christi Moody, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Trojans a 7-0 shutout on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Not much got past Christian Hernandez, who gave up just four hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Corpus Christi Moody off the board. Hernandez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Carroll is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-19 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ian Solano, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dax Rodriguez, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Solano wasn't the only one making solid contact: Carroll kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial sidestepped Corpus Christi Moody for a 3-1 win.
Zachary Hampton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jonathan Reyes was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
Carroll's victory bumped their record up to 4-20. As for Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 22-2-1.
