Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Gordonsville's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

While Gordonsville put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Red Boiling Springs. The Tigers blew past the Bulldogs 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Colton Bennett made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bobby Cripps was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Gordonsville's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Brodie Sykes was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Gordonsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Gordonsville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Red Boiling Springs, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.

Coming up, Gordonsville will look to defend their home field on Friday against Trousdale County at 3:00 p.m. As for Red Boiling Springs, they will head out on the road to take on Macon County at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
