Central posted their closest victory since December 30, 2023 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 56-54 win over the Marian Catholic Spartans. Winning may never get old, but the Rockets sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Patrick Shell was his usual excellent self, going 10 of 17 en route to 25 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden West, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 13 points.

Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Marian Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central and Hinsdale Central will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Marian Catholic, they will square off against Hyde Park at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Marian Catholic is facing Hyde Park at the right time seeing as Hyde Park is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
