The Mifflin Punchers had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They rang in the new year with a 58-51 victory over Whetstone on Friday. The victory was just what Mifflin needed coming off of a 76-49 loss in their prior game.
John Glover continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for him. Mike Woodyard was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Mifflin's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7. As for Whetstone, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-9.
Mifflin will take on East at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Mifflin likes a good challenge. As for Whetstone, they will head out on the road to face off against Beechcroft at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
