Greenwood wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was David Dellarova, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Dellarova is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, Atlantic Christian entered their tilt with Calvary Academy on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Warrior with a sharp 13-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five matches by nine runs or more so far this season.
Like Gloucester County Christian, Atlantic Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Ethan Costello. On the mound, Costello struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Aiden Martin tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. At the plate, Costello went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Martin went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Costello is becoming a predictor of Atlantic Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Seth Phillips, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Atlantic Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Charlie Costello was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Atlantic Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Atlantic Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Gloucester County Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Gloucester County Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .466. However, it's not like Atlantic Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .506. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Gloucester County Christian might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from Atlantic Christian in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. Can the Conquerors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
