After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Nansemond River, Western Branch was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 62-37 margin over the Lakeland Cavaliers. The Bruins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Western Branch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Suki Warden led the charge by putting up 24 points. That's the most points Warden has posted since back in December of 2024. Maddie Lemasters was another key player, posting 21 points.

Lakeland's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Aubrianna Paiz, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 17 points and four steals, and Janae Carter, who had 17 points along with six rebounds and six blocks. That was a full 45.9% of Lakeland's points, marking the fifth time in a row Carter has scored more than a third of the team's points.

Western Branch's record now sits at 13-7. As for Lakeland, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.
