Basketball Game Preview: Wise Pumas vs. Bowie Bulldogs

The Wise Pumas will head out on the road to face off against the Bowie Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Wise's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests.

Wise will head into Tuesday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 41-point drubbing they dealt High Point on Tuesday. Wise simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat High Point 95-54. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 55-20.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wise to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cayden Hargrove, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 12 points and five assists. Those five assists gave Hargrove a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of David Barker, who went 5 for 7 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Hargrove wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Wise was working as a unit and finished the game with 33 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bowie). They took their contest on Monday with ease, bagging a 91-43 win over Northwestern. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Bulldogs with their most commanding win of the season.

Wise's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.1 points per game. As for Bowie, their record is now 9-3.

Wise came up short against Bowie in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 62-58. Can Wise avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
