Baseball Recap: Green Valley Triumphs

While Green Valley's win against Boulder City wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Green Valley Gators had just enough and edged out the Boulder City Eagles 9-8 on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Gators also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Jeremiah Smith looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Green Valley is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Green Valley let Jacob Van Ness and Joseph Lusch run wild. Van Ness went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI, while Lusch went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Lusch has become a key player for Green Valley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Jet McNelis also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Green Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Green Valley and bumps their season record up to 6-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11 hits in those games compared to only 4.75 in the others. As for Boulder City, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Green Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 10-2 win against Herriman on the 17th. As for Boulder City, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-1 defeat against Carson on the 18th.
