With a playoff game on the line, the Lake Creek Lions rose to the challenge on Friday. They breezed by Nederland on the road to the tune of 53-6. The result was nothing new for Lake Creek, who have now won seven contests by 25 points or more so far this season.
Lake Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyvonn Byars out in front who rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Naziruddin, who gained 119 total yards and three touchdowns.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Lake Creek, adding 13 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Alex Abbott: he added nine points with three field goals, and another four kicking extra points.
The victory for Lake Creek keeps them at an undefeated 11-0. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.55 points. As for Nederland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
Lake Creek will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Crockett at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Crockett will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 567th, while Lake Creek is ranked 54th). Nederland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
