The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Harvest Christian came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while La Joya is ranked 941st).
La Joya found their leader in underclassman Owen Benoit, who scored 16 points along with 6 assists and 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Trevino, who scored 7 points along with 8 assists and 3 steals.
Harvest Christian's loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for La Joya, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-6.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Rio Grande City the next time they take the court. Harvest Christian will head out to face Rio Grande City at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, while La Joya will head out to face them at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.
