The Baldwyn Bearcats will head out on the road to face off against the Strayhorn Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Baldwyn scored first but ultimately less than Tupelo Christian Prep in their matchup on Thursday. They took a 20-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Baldwyn gained 101 more yards on the day, but it was Tupelo Christian Prep that made the best of use of them.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Dy'Lan Johnson, who threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80.8% of his passes.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Strayhorn had to settle for a 23-20 loss against Potts Camp two weeks ago.
Strayhorn's loss came about despite a quality game from Hayden Alsup, who rushed for 256 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown.
This is the second loss in a row for Baldwyn and nudges their season record down to 5-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.5 points per game. As for Strayhorn, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Baldwyn strolled past Strayhorn when the teams last played back in September of 2018 by a score of 20-6. Will Baldwyn repeat their success, or does Strayhorn have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
