It's was a good run, but Sierra Lutheran finally witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak. They were dealt a punishing 14-50 defeat at the hands of Virginia City. Despite the defeat, Sierra Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: Sophomore Shawn Emm picked up 104 yards on the ground. If you haven't heard Emm's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past three games.
Meanwhile, Whittell put the finishing touches on their 3rd blowout victory of the season last Friday. They took their game against The Meadows School by a conclusive 63-42 score. Not happy with the near-even 21-20 score at halftime, Whittell made a real splash in the second half.
Sierra Lutheran took a serious blow against Whittell the last time the two teams met, falling 0-62. Whatever the outcome in this rematch, the contest is bound to be a fierce one since these are two of the top teams in the state.
