The Central Catholic Vikings will square off against the North Allegheny Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Central Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully North Allegheny likes a good challenge.
Central Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They breezed past Canon-McMillan to the tune of 44-7. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Big Macs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Central Catholic found their leader in sophomore Chrys Black Jr, who rushed for 168 yards and one score on only nine carries. Black Jr's longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Central Catholic proved: they limited Canon-McMillan to a paltry 1.5 yards per carry. While three picked up at least seven total tackles, Manny Regus stood above the rest. He picked up a sack and made seven total tackles. Central Catholic didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.5.
Central Catholic's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Regus, Roman Thompson, and Phillip (Ty) Tillman, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for North Allegheny, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in October. They strolled past Norwin with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 35-17.
Central Catholic better keep an eye on Luke Rohan. He was instrumental in North Allegheny's win, rushing for 163 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Rohan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Brinkley, who threw for 159 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 passes.
Central Catholic's record now sits at 10-1. As for North Allegheny, their record is now 8-3.
Central Catholic strolled past North Allegheny in their previous matchup back in September by a score of 21-6. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
