Alexis Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Prospect Mountain let Paige Harding and Liv Noyes run wild. Harding went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Noyes went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Harding has posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Trinity ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Somersworth 8-6.
Emily Flynn was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over eight innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Flynn was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Romano, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Olivia Pearson was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Trinity kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Somersworth only managed seven hits.
Prospect Mountain's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.1 runs over those games. As for Trinity, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Prospect Mountain hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Trinity struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Prospect Mountain took their win against Trinity when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 14-4 score. Do the Timberwolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pioneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
